Le Petit Meal Plan #5
The comfort food edition
It’s been a busy month settling back into life in the Northern Hemisphere after filming Bake Off. It’s always a bit of a shock to the system—working intensively on a TV set feels like living on another planet! For me, that feeling is heightened after staying in Bondi Beach with its laid-back surfer vibe and endless flat whites, which is worlds apart from the little Swedish seaside village I call home (a hotspot for retirees and Stockholm holidaymakers). But there’s nothing more grounding than getting stuck into local produce and cooking up some home comforts. This month’s meal plan is all about that—warming, cosy dishes that celebrate the rich flavours of the season. From creamy soups to hearty traybakes, these recipes will keep you snug and satisfied!

MEAL #1 - Effortlessly simple to whip up {gf, nf, df}
Recipe: One pot chicken soup with a fiery relish
There’s nothing better than a bowl of hearty chicken soup as the days grow shorter and the air turns crisp. It’s a dish I make at least once a week—it’s just that easy to throw together, even with the chaos of busy family life. Plus the leftovers can be easily transformed.
MEAL #2 - Spice up your comfort food {v*,nf}
Guest Recipe: Caroline Choe Kimchi Mac & Cheese
As the air turns crisp, it's time to bring some warmth and bold flavours to your meals. This dish combines the sharp tang of kimchi with the ultimate comfort food. Perfect for family dinners or any autumn gathering, this mac & cheese is guaranteed to disappear in no time.
MEAL #3 - A curry charmelon to please all {pb, nf, gf}
Recipe: Loaded Curry Wraps
This versatile concoction lets you play chef. Add leftover roast meat, or keep it plant-powered—your call. Perfect for entertaining a hungry horde. Forget the ordinary, this curry is the unexpected hero that saves your leftovers from the bin.
MEAL #4 - Rice is always nice {v, nf}
Guest Recipe: Yotam Ottolenghi's Cheese Ball Lemon Rice With Chilli Butter
This cheesy, briny rice traybake, infused with lemon and topped with rich chilli butter, is as delicious as it is satisfying. Perfect as a side for roast chicken or as a comforting main with wilted greens.
MEAL #5 - Handwarming, soul soothing soup {pb, gf, nf, df}
Recipe: Red Lentil Velouté with Herb Butter Baguettes
This soup might be simple in terms of list of ingredients but that's exactly the brilliance of this recipe. You don't need much to create the smoothest soup and there's not a drop of cream in sight. A side of crispy hot herb buttered baked baguettes to mop up the soup makes this easy to prepare lunch or supper, a recipe you'll have on repeat this cold season.
Something for your sweet tooth…
Recipe: Caramel Apple Fondants
A warm, oozy dessert of tender roasted apples and salted peanut caramel. A seasonal treat that might just count as one of your 5-a-day.

How delicious, esp the mac!
It all sounds so good but that mac n cheese....right up my street
